Adopted Dog Update: Drake

We always LOVE getting updates from adopters .... over the holidays we got a card from Drake's new family. Drake came to Pet Haven in October, 2008 from a local impound. Drake had been hit by a car and had to have his right front leg amputated. In November, 2008 he was a star in Pet Haven's annual Fall Benefit fundraiser and was one of the 13 dogs in our pet fashion show presented by Lulu & Luigi. When Drake first came to Pet Haven he was being fostered at one of our doggie daycare partners, Pampered Pooch Playground in St. Louis Park. In January, 2009 they officially adopted Drake to join their family. Drake has a sister, Zoe (an absolutely adorable English bulldog) and it sounds like he is being a terrific older brother to her :) The following is the card we got .... thank you Jeff, Gretchen and Zoe for opening up your heart and your home to Drake!

Adopted Dog Monday!

We have a lot to celebrate this week!

Miss Bailey, a springer/lab mix, has landed in a foster-with-intent-to-adopt home. They spent some time with her before the holidays but couldn't bring her home until after they finished their holiday travels. Everyone who met Bailey and her new "foster" parents at our adoption event on Saturday has a great feeling about this match!






Lady, a yellow lab mix, has won the hears of her foster parents. They are adopting her! Congratulations, Lady!









Rae Ann, a hound mix, has found her new home with a Min Pin sibling and two boys of her very own. Everyone who met Rae Ann fell in love with this gentle girl and we are very excited for her. Congratulations, Rae Ann!







Drake, an American Bulldog, and his family stopped by our adoption event this weekend to make things official after fostering with intent to adopt for a couple of weeks. Check out this photo of Drake and his adorable canine sister, Zoey.






Ahnung was adopted this weekend by Marilou, President of Pet Haven. We have all enjoyed ribbing Marilou for "foster failing" (adopting your own foster dog) for the third time (she has only "fostered" three dogs). Ahnung is a lucky girl and we are glad that she is "staying in the Pet Haven family" and we will all get to see a lot more of her.



Gale, a female mixed breed from Rosie's Red Lake Rescue, never even made it onto our website. While out walking with her foster mom last week she met some neighbors who fell in love with this little girl. She now has a Boxer brother and a mom who works from home. She has come a long way from being abandoned in northern Minnesota with a litter of puppies!

Adopted Dog Monday!

Little Sierra has been adopted! Sierra is one of several puppies we took in from Rosie's Red Lake Rescue in November (see Junior & Lauren, below, who were also from RRLR). She has two new kids of her own to keep her busy and build snowmen with this winter! Congratulations, Sierra!












Sadie, now Sasha, has found her family. She counts among her new family members a lab named Sadie, hence the name change. :) She also has two little girls to watch over. Congratulations, Sadie/Sasha!















Lauren has also found herself a family! They are traveling for the holidays, so Lauren will hang out with her foster mom for a little while longer and go to her new home after the holiday. Congratulations, Lauren!















Junior, now known as Cookie (because he looks like an Oreo), went home this week. He has two boys of his very own and a stay at home mom. Congratulations, Junior!











Drake went to a foster-with-intent home this weekend. He has a new fur sister, Zoe, who is an Olde English Bulldog. Cross your paws that this is it for Drake (with only 3 paws its a little hard for Drake to cross his own). Congratulations, Drake!

Drake: Learning to live on 3 legs

Drake is a young American Bulldog who was hit by a car and taken to a local vet for medical attention. His family never claimed him during his stray hold. The clinic staff felt he was a sweet dog who deserved a 2nd chance so they went ahead and amputated his badly damaged leg (all of his medical care was donated by the clinic, Camden Pet Hospital) and started searching for a rescue who could take this boy in and help him find his forever home. This weekend Drake landed on all three feet in Pet Haven care. He is currently hanging out at Pampered Pooch where Keith and his staff are loving him up while he waits for a foster home. Drake gets along well with other dogs, but cats are a no-no for his foster or adoptive home.
