Adopted Dog Monday

Jake the spaniel mix is finally home. He came into our program from a hoarder situation two years ago. A Pet Haven volunteer picked him up as a timid 6 month old puppy in the Animal Ark parking lot in Hastings. Jake was adopted twice since then into homes that just were not a good fit for him.

What was missing in his previous homes was another dog to teach Jake the ropes. Well look at his new sister, Carmen. They look like they could be related. Carmen is teaching Jake how to be a more confident dog. He is still up to some of his old Houdini tricks being able to get out of his kennel without leaving a trace of how he did it. But he is bonding with his new dad something he was not able to do in the previous two homes.

What a beautiful family. They are active and include Jake when they can. Mom works from home so Jake has lots of company. And where does the family live.......Hastings where Jake came into our program the first time. Oh Jakie it is a homecoming for you. Third time is as charming as you are. We wish you the best sweet boy!!

Adopted Dog Monday!

Jake, the young Pointer mix is at home with his new mom and dad.  It took sensitive Jake several days to warm up to them, but his parents worked hard to win his trust.  The family stopped by our adoption event at Petco on Saturday, to show Jake off and fit him for a sweater.  He has short fur and winter is coming!

Mukwa, our giant black lab went home on Saturday.  His new Husky brother, Yukon, is so happy to have a new playmate.  Mukwa's mom recently lost a mellow senior dog.  While a new dog never replaces one we have lost, they do fill a space in your home and heart.  Mukwa has a nice fenced yard to play in and we are certain there is plenty of love for him in his new household.

Our girl from Red Lake Rosie's, Emma, went home on Saturday, too!   She will have a big fenced yard to play in and two doting parents.  Emma recently started Obedience class at The Canine Coach.  Her new mom and dad are planning to help her finish the course.   Little Emma is only seven months old, so she still has some growing and learning to do.   Her forever home is a great place do to it in.

Buckles, the happy senior CockaPoowho hides his age so well, found a terrific new home.  His plans are for a lot of snuggle time mixed in with car rides and some good walks, too.

We're happy for our four adoptees and wish them well in their new lives.

Jake would like to be your buddy

Jake is one of the easiest fosters we have ever had. He is a bit shy at first but he quickly warms up. He gets along with all dogs even the dominant ones. He is being fostered at Rescue Buddy Boarding and just loves to play so another dog around would be ideal. A fenced in yard would also be ideal to keep him safe and secure. The hunting breed is known for following their noses.

Jake listens well and has already passed the first obedience class. Some continued study would be good for both Jake and his new family. He loves to ride in the car wherever you are going-soccer games or a trip to the dog park.

Jake is young and still has lots of energy. Older kids would probably be best for Jake's activity level. He does require daily exercise and does well on a leash.

For more info on Jake check out his bio or email dogs@pethavenmn.org.

Adopted Dog Monday!

Welcome to a new week!

I was remiss last week in not celebrating the adoption of Jake, Seeka's brother, by his foster family. Jake is a lucky boy -- in addition to a wonderfully loving adoptive home, his mom is also a TTouch practitioner.

No other adoptions were finalized this week, but we have a few possibilities cooking. Check in next Monday when we hope to have a few happy endings to report!
