Adopted Dog Monday

Libby aka Liberty Bloosum Carter-her AKC name-now Lexi got adopted last week by her foster family. Libby came to Pet Haven with her "brother" Scooby-also adopted-from Red Lake Rosie's Rescue.

Two AKC registered Shelties are not what one would normally expect on the rez. Both dogs were lovingly cared for and given up only after the city of Gonvic found out the owner had two too many dogs.

Lexi joins a family of shelties. Her sisters Cali and Lili accepted her right away. Lexi's mom says she is the best behaved one of the three.

Looks like Lexi has found her comfy spot. Have a good life girly girl.

New Dog Transports 7/11 and 7/12

Earlier this week Pet Haven had two transports bring us 7 wonderful new dogs. Mike, Teddy, and Sherman came from People for Pets in Spencer Iowa. Thanks to Sheila from BARKMN for bringing our dogs all the way to Lakeville. Your car was brimming with furry friends.

Mike is a tiny little Chihuahua boy. Weighing in at about 6lbs he needs to start eating some cheeseburgers. His foster says he is a real snuggle bunny.

Teddy is a 2 year old Pom that is the cutest ball of fluff. He is playful and has a look in his eye that says "What's next?".

Sherman a 75lb lab has been waiting quite a while at the shelter to have a chance for a new home. Well buddy you are on your way now. Sherman will be hanging out at Pampered Pooch Playground for the next week.

On Sunday we brought in 4 new dogs Chester, Beulah, Libby, and Scooby from Red Lake Rosie's Rescue. Thanks to Jenny for delivering these great dogs to us. No idea how you got so many animals in your car.

Chester is a 40lb lab mix. He is the perfect size for city dwellers and would love daily trips to the dog park. A lake to swim in would be on his dream list too. For the next week Chester will be playing with all the dogs at Auntie Ruth's.

Beulah is a 30lb springer/hound mix. At least that is the mix we are guessing for now. Beulah is a shy girl that is slowly coming out of her shell. She will need a patient home where she can experience new things calmly and gain confidence.

Libby is a 5 year old registered Sheltie. Her AKC name is Liberty Bloosum Carter. She is hanging out in a foster home with two other Shelties. This may be a quick foster failure situation here.

Scooby is a 7 year old registered Sheltie. His AKC name is Prince Scooby III. He slipped out of his collar at the clinic and was found walking down 494. Welcome to the big city Scooby. We will have more info on Petfinder soon. Most of these dogs will be making their debut on Saturday at our adoption events. Check our website for times and locations.

Adopted Dog Monday!

Here it is -- a new standard feature for the Dog Blog -- every Monday I will let you know which dogs found their forever homes over the past week. Many people have told me that they wished they could learn about when the dogs are adopted (outside of the Happy Tails on the website and in the Pet Haven Newsletter). Everyone could use a pick me up on a Monday morning -- and what's more heart warming than reading about adopted dogs?

Without further ado...

After 7 months in foster care, Hank has found his forever home. Hank has two kids and a fenced in yard to call his very own. He lives only a few blocks from a fabulous dog park. His new mom and dad are taking time off from work to get him settled into the house.

Keisha is a 6 year old lab/beagle mix who never even made it onto our Petfinder available dogs listings. She was adopted at her first Adoption Day appearance! Congratulations Keisha!

Libby went home this week. She has a lab sister and 7 year old twin boys to throw the ball for her. Libby's idea of a dream come true!

Buster went home this weekend with a woman who has owned Cocker Spaniels for more than 20 years. She knows all about Cockers and their allergy issues and she's prepared to keep working with Buster on his skin issues. What a lucky boy!

Seeka, one of our spaniel puppies, and Sammy Jo, a brand new chow/papillion (?? who knows, but she's cute!) mix, went home with foster-with-intent-to-adopt homes this weekend. Peanuts and Snickers, two fox terrier mix puppies were adopted at long last by their foster-with-intent families.

Greased Lightning Libby

Are you an energetic person who thinks that a canine companion would be the perfect addition to your active lifestyle? Libby might be the girl for you! Don't let her lounge lizard photo fool you -- Libby is a 1 year old busy girl who is always up for your next big adventure. She would love to be your new jogging partner, or be your standing date for the dog park. She's a sweetheart who is happy to snuggle after you both burn off some energy and she loves, loves, loves her people. Libby lives with two other dogs and a teenager in her foster home. She's a happy girl who gets along well with other dogs and would love a playful canine companion in her adoptive home.

Libby arrived in Pet Haven foster care with a sparse coat, but with some vet care and good food her fur is filling in. She should have a beautiful coat to keep her warm by the time winter rolls around. As her coat fills in...her speckles are coming out! She's an adorable white and orange girl. Libby came to us from a rural shelter, so we don't have much background information on her, but we believe she is an English Setter. She certainly fits the appearance and personality of a field Setter. She's a little peanut of a girl with a thin frame, gaining weight would require slowing down and Libby shows no signs of doing that any time soon!

If Libby sounds like the dog for you, please email dogs@pethavenmn.org to learn more about her.
