Adopted Dog Monday

The last two weeks have once again been good ones for our large dogs finding their forever homes. We had 3 big dogs and two puppies adopted.

First we have to give a big shout out to Pepper and his new "official" mom Leah for signing the adoption papers on Saturday. Pepper/Zipper/now Cooper has been hanging out with Leah for months now. He has been in our program for over a year. Of course Cooper felt like he was home all along. It took Leah a bit longer to commit. Have a happy life together you two!

This is Beau the beautiful coonhound with his new family. He has lots of kids to play with, a mother-in-law home all day to keep him company, and a huge backyard they all can hang out in.

Congratulations to Jackie and Jerry and son Sam for adopting out your first foster.

And a second congratulations on your next adoption Jackie of Romeo the speagle puppy to this wonderful family. Romeo is a lucky boy to have all this love and attention.

Louie, Romeo's brother, found his new home too. This family actually met Beau as a possible new dog but just were not ready to adopt yet. But they came back to Pet Haven when Louie arrived. Congrats little man. And congrats to Nicole on her first adoption.

Captain the hilarious basset is living within walking distance of his foster's home. This makes Cindy, Bobb, and Elanor very happy because they can visit Captain often. Captain was adopted into a very basset friendly home complete with a doggy ramp for when his short legs get too tired for stairs. Thanks Cindy and family for fostering so many dogs in a row.

Handsome Beau

It's been a while since i've actually been to a dog adoption event ... today, I had to meet some Pet Haven volunteers and a group of seniors from Augsburg College who are doing a project for Pet Haven ... so I decided, let's meet at the Minnetonka Petco since we have a dog adoption event taking place. The first dog who greeted me was none other than Beau (a coonhound mix) ... Beau is a 3 year old coonhound mix who loves people! Not only did I get lots of kisses ... mind you, slobbery kisses ... from Beau, but he had plenty left to give to the 4 Augsburg College students. How could you not fall in love with a dog who just wants to love you and give you kisses???

He gets along with kids and other dogs and is housetrained and crate trained. Now, it doesn't get better than that ... To read his full bio click here.

I took photos of a couple other dogs at the adoption event ... Jack, the rottie and Jackson (who is just coming into Pet Haven's foster program so he's not yet up on our website ...Jackson is an 8 year old american eskimo mix and quite the lover too!). To check out the photos from today, click here.

For right now though ... Beau wanted me to make sure that I posted his photos and spread the word about him. We are needing to find a foster home for Beau (he's currently being fostered at Auntie Ruth, one of our doggie daycare partners) ... and as much as he likes it there and is being treated like a king ... he says it's time for him to move into a home.  Ultimately, he would love a forever home, but for now, he'll take a foster home.

So won't you help spread the word about this handsome Beau??

Beau Needs a Foster or Forever Home!

Looking for a new beau? Well, this Beau might be your best bet. That's because he's loyal, true and ever-so devoted. Formally known as Beauregard, 3-year-old Beau is sheer delight. He's got just enough puppy in him to keep him extra playful, but a good dose of maturity to tone down any of the inappropriate youth trouble he might get into. Fact is, he's still really learning what toys are.

Beau gets along well with others including kids and dogs. He's also housetrained and crate trained. He's a bit shy but that only adds to his charm. Being a coonhound mix, Beau likes to follow his nose after anything that looks or smells delightful. This means a fenced yard is pretty necessary to keep him out of harms way.

So skip match.com and eHarmony. Just ask about Beau. He'll be happy to be your loyal, devoted companion for life. Please contact Pet Haven at dogs@pethavenmn.org if you are able to provide a foster home or even better a forever home for Beau.
