Adopted Dog Monday

The last two weeks have once again been good ones for our large dogs finding their forever homes. We had 3 big dogs and two puppies adopted.

First we have to give a big shout out to Pepper and his new "official" mom Leah for signing the adoption papers on Saturday. Pepper/Zipper/now Cooper has been hanging out with Leah for months now. He has been in our program for over a year. Of course Cooper felt like he was home all along. It took Leah a bit longer to commit. Have a happy life together you two!

This is Beau the beautiful coonhound with his new family. He has lots of kids to play with, a mother-in-law home all day to keep him company, and a huge backyard they all can hang out in.

Congratulations to Jackie and Jerry and son Sam for adopting out your first foster.

And a second congratulations on your next adoption Jackie of Romeo the speagle puppy to this wonderful family. Romeo is a lucky boy to have all this love and attention.

Louie, Romeo's brother, found his new home too. This family actually met Beau as a possible new dog but just were not ready to adopt yet. But they came back to Pet Haven when Louie arrived. Congrats little man. And congrats to Nicole on her first adoption.

Captain the hilarious basset is living within walking distance of his foster's home. This makes Cindy, Bobb, and Elanor very happy because they can visit Captain often. Captain was adopted into a very basset friendly home complete with a doggy ramp for when his short legs get too tired for stairs. Thanks Cindy and family for fostering so many dogs in a row.

Adopted Dog Monday!

Oh wow, we have a lot to celebrate today!

Dakota, a mid-aged husky mix was adopted by her fosters. Dakota has/had some pretty serious dog-dog aggression issues and Ed and Edith have worked very hard with her over the many months. They have made tremendous progress and hope that next year Dakota will be able to handle having a foster dog in their home. Congratulations, Dakota!

Missy, a black lab mix, has been patiently waiting for her new mom to get settled in a new place so that she could finally go home. That day has come and the adoption is final. Congratulations, Missy!

Clyde was returned to PH after a short adoption last month when he did not get along with the resident dog (not Clyde's fault). He moved to a new foster home, where it just so happens that one of the neighbors had been following Clyde on Petfinder. They ran into Clyde and his fosters on a walk and the rest, as they say, is history. Congratulations, Clyde!

Decey, a hound mix, has been officially adopted by his foster-with-intent family after spending several weeks settling into his new digs. Congratulations, Decey!

Abbie, a black lab mix, had a couple of interested parties come to meet her at our adoption event on Saturday. She picked a young couple to claim as her very own and enjoyed her first adopted dog shopping trip at Petco before they headed out on Saturday. Congratulations, Abbie!

Baxter, a maltese, has had a lot of interest during his short time in foster care and this weekend he went home with a wonderful new family. Congratulations, Baxter!

Louie, a three-legged sheltie mix, was adopted this weekend. His new mom has had her eye on him for a couple of weeks. Congratulations, Louie!

Eli, a Jack Russell Terrier, has been in foster care of over a year. He's a timid guy with a multitude of behavior quirks, but his foster has stuck with him and he has made tremendous progress. Of course, after bonding with Eli and helping him to come so far there was no way that she could let him go, so Eli has been officially adopted by his foster mom. Congratulations, Eli!

Maisey, a beagle, was adopted by a PH volunteer. He was helping out at an adoption event handling a different foster dog when he fell in love with little Maisey. Her new dad works from home and she has a brother to play with. Congratulations, Maisey!

Three-legged Louie

Louie is a 4 year old aussie/sheltie mix who came to us from Red Lake Rosie's Rescue. Little Lou is a tripod - missing one of his back legs. You would never know it from the way that he gets around though! Louie has been hanging out with his foster mom for a few months now, waiting for his forever home!

Louie loves to play with other dogs of all sizes and does well at the dog park. He is housebroken and is used to free roam of a room when his foster mom is gone. He does whine when she leaves, but settles down quickly (she has spied on him and checked with the neighbors as well). He doesn't chew anything in appropriate. Louie loves to ride int he car. Daily exercise is a must, but he also likes to settle down and snuggle in to watch TV at night. He knows basic commands: sit, come, stay, shake, roll over and stay. Louie does give indications that he would chase motorcycles if he could, so a fenced yard would be ideal for this pooch; however he currently lives in a townhome and does just fine on a tie out.

If Louie sounds like the dog for you, please email pethavendogs@yahoo.com

New Kids on the Block

These three have been hangin' tough up at Red Lake Rosie's Rescue, but on Sunday they hitched a ride to foster care. We are just getting to know them, but they were all very good dogs in the car and at the vet. We are getting to know them and they are all looking for foster and adoptive homes. If someone catches your eye and you think you've got the right stuff, please email pethavendogs@yahoo.com

Sonoma (top left) is a lab/shepherd (?) mix female who appears to be a little camera shy.

Louie (right) is an aussie/herding breed (?) tripod boy. His photo is a little blurry because good photos require sitting still and after a long trip down to the cities, Louie was ready for FUN!

Montana (lower left) is a St. Bernard/Husky (?) mix boy. He got to ride shotgun on the last leg of the transport and was a very good boy uncrated in the car. Look at that mug, what a handsome fella.
