Adopted Dog ... Tuesday!

We thought we would  mix things up a bit so I present you with Adopted Dog Tuesday.

Charlie, the Cockalier is home at last!

A Cockalier is a Cocker Spaniel/Cavalier King Charles Spaniel cross, considered a hybrid and not a purebred dog.  Until I did an internet search, I thought this term was the clever invention of a Pet Haven volunteer.  Actually,  there are many of these lively little dogs out there, and many people who love them.

Charlie was surrendered to us because the family that bought him from a breeder had no idea how much work a puppy can be.  Even a smart little guy like Charlie needed someone with patience and consistency to start to teach him manners and proper dog behavior.  The lessons don't come quickly with a puppy, whose attention span is about like your average two year old human child.

His first foster mom taught him some basic obedience and even taught him to 'rollover' in just 15 minutes.  She says he is "cute...cuddly...when he stops going, that is!  He loves everyone and just wants to be loved."

Charlie's new parents have enrolled him in obedience class, which is essential for a puppy and a really good idea for any new dog and his/her family.  It's Charlie's first birthday today, so we wish him a Happy Day and a long, happy life in his new home.
